Biggest Loser Finale

Watching the finale of The Biggest Loser right now.  I'm not going to say anything about what's happening, but I'm just curious, since this is the first time I've watched the season, do all of the contestants after a certain week get surgery to get the extra skin off?  I mean, some of them have lost a significant amount of weight, and I don't really see a lot of extra skin (unless they have some crazy Spanx on!).  On top of that bit of "evidence," after a certain week, all of the current contestants wore clothing that covered their mid sections...and on the finale, they're all wearing clothing to cover mid-sections again.  Just curious.  Any proof either way?  Regardless, so amazing.

I have never watched the show Beej, so I can't answer the question, but it sounds like a very valid one.

Good job so far this week on the goals!

I think its the crazy Spanx, haha.

From what I've heard, they are not allowed to get any sort of surgery before the finale, but can do so afterwards if they so desire.

And some have, I read that Neal from either Season 5 or 6 (dont' remember exactly) just got surgery a couple months ago before his wedding.

Hope that helps, awesome blog by the way, and incredible progress thus far. I have some checking up to do w/ your posts from your posts but I'll be following your progress. Good luck!

I've heard of contestants getting surgery after the show as well, but never during.

I'm pretty sure it's got to be some sort of body spandex they're wearing to keep the loose skin in.

When Rudy and Danny weighed in I kept looking for proof of such, and I could have sworn it looked like Rudy had a skin toned something on beneath his biggest loser shirt.

Yep I saw spandex. How come it's ok to show the contestants shirtless when they're fat but hide everything when they get skinny?

I think it's because they don't want to discourage people from losing large amounts of weight.

Let's face it, when people put that much work in, they want to look good afterwards.

After a certain point, I think the loose skin becomes a turn off visually, and the whole idea of the show is to have the 'before' be the turn off while the 'after' should be what everyone wants.

Yeah, Paul, I'm sure you're right. It's all about the dramatic change (and it IS a dramatic change). It about inspiring all of us to do somehting about where we are. And they succeed with that, but I wish it were a bit more realistic, you know?
