Scenes from an Italian Weight-loss (edited)

Here are two snapshots from the past week or so.

Scene 1
BJ and WOMAN 1 are sitting waiting for a meeting to start. The meeting is 20 minutes late. They are looking at my latest progress pictures.
WOMAN 1: Wow, you sure have changed!
BJ: (blushing) Thanks!
WOMAN 1: I can't believe that this picture is you.
[WOMAN 1 shows it to MAN 1 who is impressed.]
WOMAN 1: You know, I need to do what you did.
BJ: What?
WOMAN 1: Lose weight, get healthy.
BJ: Well you walk a lot, right?
WOMAN 1: Not as much anymore. Just so busy at work.

Scene 2
[BJ and WOMAN 3 are chatting in the office halls.]
WOMAN 3: You just keep getting skinnier and skinnier.
BJ: (blushing) Thanks!
WOMAN 3: Your progress is so great! How did you start this?
[BJ tells the story that's here.]
WOMAN 3: Wow. You know, I was in Nashville last week, and I this guy was sitting at my table. I just kept looking at him. He looked so familiar. So finally, I said, "Are you from Washington? You look so familiar!" He said, "No, but I was on the Biggest Loser." Duh! He was on Season 7. Do you remember him?
BJ: No...I didn't start watching it until last season.
WOMAN 3: I just think it's so cool that they do it on the show, but you've done it all by yourself. At home. That's just great!
BJ: (blushing) Thanks!

Okay, to be honest, I'm not sure that all of these words are exact, but they're close. And who actually said them doesn't matter. But I wanted to comment on each scene, if I may.

Scene 1: You know, you just really do it when you do it. Like Yoda, I agree that you either do it or you don't. Trying isn't that effective. So if you want to lose weight, lose weight. If you don't lose weight, it's probably not from a lack of wanting. It's from a lack of doing (or doing too much).  I find that a lot of people make excuses for not doing things.  I'd rather start acting and have to work around problems than not act for fear of something happening.  And I really don't like excuses (well, at least for weight-loss. I make loads of excuses in other parts of my life).

Scene 2: I am just in awe that someone put me in the same category as the Biggest Loser. How freaking crazy is that?! I also had someone else mention that. For me, there is not bigger compliment about my weight-loss than that. Well, that and someone I know really well but haven't seen for a while not even recognizing me.

What are your thoughts about the 2 scenes? Are my reactions too strong?

The funny thing is Beej, I have faced similar scenes. My favorite one though is when someone notices your success, comments on it, then proceeds to tell you why your program isn't going to work, but theirs will, yet they haven't lost a pound yet. :-) I get that one more than the others.

Great reactions in my book.
