Goals and Plans

So, I have some updates and some new goals and some new plans.  Let's see here.

Updates...So, Ish asked me where she can donate the money for Spilling Hope.  Well, the good news is that I still have another week to add to the total.  I know I won't get to the 100 miles I'd have loved to, but I can still tack on to that amount.  Maybe another 20 miles?  Who knows.  That being said, for those of you who pledged (thank you!) will be able to go to an official link where they will be accepting online donations.  I think then, you'd be able to make your donation tax-deductible.  And any of you out there who'd still like to be part of this great cause will also be able to join.

As for goals, I now have 2 more to talk about.  They may seem simple, but man, they're tough to me.

First Goal: As of tonight, I'm not going to have any candy for the rest of May.  I have been slowly slipping back into the habit of having some kind of "treat" each day.  Sometimes it's a couple of squares of dark chocolate (good treat), and other times it's a Snickers Bar or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  And even other times, it's Skittles or other pure sugar!  So, as of now, I'm breaking that bond.  Ugh.  I hate having to mess with these bad habits.

Second Goal: I will not go to a buffet for the rest of the month.  How hard can that be, right?  It shouldn't be too difficult.  But it kinda is.  In fact, as I said before, a couple of weeks ago, I went to an Indian Buffet, a week ago, I went to a Chinese Buffet, and just today, I was seriously considering going to an American Buffet.  At least I'm well-travelled through the buffet world.  But that ends now.  Now more at least for a few weeks.  I can totally do that!

And now, for my new plan!  I've been wanting to do more races, and I think I may have found it!

I'm bummed that I missed the first race (it was last Saturday!).  And, in fact, I had wanted to do the first race, but totally spaced on registering a couple of months ago and just found the site again today.  But I'm registered for the next race; and on June 12, 2010 (the day before my birthday) I'll be running through the woods for 7 miles.  Yahoo!  Anyone around here want to join me?  AlisonTara? Mary (now that you're closer!)?  Ricky (come on down from Cousin Canada!)?

These are two great goals Beej. I agree too, they are not going to be easy. You can do it though. I have no doubts in my mind.

Good goals...hmmmm, I think I'm going to borrow your methodology here: no more chocolate vegan desserts for me on Mondays for the month of May (and perhaps into June). Amazing how quickly those treats become regular snacks, and then they're a habit, and then...boy, are they hard to get rid of.

Ish, you are SO right!! I guess most of the new habits are "better" than the old ones, but that doesn't mean they're good. It's stil a sign of a loss of some control...for me at least!

Those are two great things to give up, even temporarily. Skittles are my downfall and I can easily demolish a half-pound bag in one sitting!

Buffets are worse because it's so difficult to keep track of what you're eating and SO tempting to fill your place more than once... :o(

Well done! :o)

Go go with those commitments, probably good and if you can't do it for 2 weeks UH OH :P I have noticed myself having a sweeter snack most days lately, maybe I should try to cut back too, hmmmm.

I will think about cougar mountain, trail running is hard for me (no ligaments in left ankle=no lateral stability) and my mother is in town and either leaves that day or sunday, so I'll let you know. Not to mention poor Ben is getting raced out :P

7 miles?

I would but that day is Sound to Narrows down here in your city's shadow. I'm running the 5k.

I'm going to have to keep my eye on that series though since I'm looking to up my miles!
