My turn to link

I know that I have had a problem with buffets.  Of course, I beat that a couple of weeks ago...but I haven't been back to a Chinese Buffet yet, so who knows.  Of course, this link is mostly in jest, but it still brought back some bad memories about my old habits; my wrong definition of value (quantity, not quality); and my old life.  Not only that, but it almost made me sick.  Yeah, there were some chuckles, but still... So, go on over and read the post (seriously, it is funny and sad and scary).  Maybe post here what your strategy used to be.

I absolutely saw the humour in your comment! I love you just the way you are too.

Here are a couple of posts of mine regarding buffets.

Thanks for the links, Kimberley! I read the recap before, but I had never read your plan post--that is some GREAT advice.

Well, I haven't dared go to one since I began 44 days ago. I couldn't even handle Halloween candy in my house...I know I'd go crazy trying to resist getting seconds and thirds at a buffet. Golden Corral is my favorite. I used to pile up the mashed potatoes, steak, and dinner rolls. Those were the days...

I have to be so very careful with buffets, as I have shared before. I am not quite that strong yet.

The other post was pretty humorous, but unfortunately had a lot of truth.

buffets... well, I have to admit my strategy is simple - pile on a big salad first... once I have eaten a huge salad and finished an entire 8oz glass of water only then will I allow myself to fill 1 plate with the 'hot' items of my choice focusing on proteins. My big problem is usually dessert, so I go back for the third time to get fruit, usually pineapple, melon and berries. Of course I still eat too much (even though I never finish a single plate) but this way I limit the bad - emphasize the good and move on....in fact this is my same strategy with thanksgiving only then I do allow myself a slice of apple pie - no ice cream 1 dollop whipping cream....it's worth it :)

or... try this, eat a nice salad about an hour before... perhaps you'll have more resistance ;)
